It was the collaborators who enabled Nazi-Germany to occupy or conquer almost all of Europe, keep the population under control, murder millions of Jews, and wage war for six years. But why and how did these people collaborate with the Nazis, and why did they send Jews to their deaths? Each episode of the documentary series focuses on one country and uses personalized, classic AI-based graphic animations to show the accomplices who made Hitler’s reign of terror over so many people possible—from petty informers to intellectuals and dignitaries, police officers and military personnel, local Nazi leaders, and the heads of state. We counter their stories with the fates of their victims. And we disclose how countries have refused to truly come to terms with their own history of collaboration, in some cases to this day.
