SYNOPSIS
Whatever the reason, the mass migration of a species is a spectacle worth beholding. Whether walking, running, drifting in currents, flying, soaring, or swimming, We will follow them as they travel to find food, mate, or move to a more hospitable climate. It is these spectacular events that we witness and explore in The JOURNEY series. Swallows, Geese, Arctic Terns, and Hawks travel north to south and back again. Whales up the coasts of America, Salmon as they migrate to mate and spawn. Wildebeest as they struggle through the bush across rivers. Monarch butterflies as they travel north from Mexico. Red Crabs on Christmas Island. Turtles laying their eggs, and so many more. Why do they do it? What tools do they use? Why not find a shorter journey? Where do they find the strength? What sustains them through their migration? Why do the benefit of longdistance migration outweigh the costs? How does natural selection shape these journeys? Is the destination programmed into their genes?
